Mission Statement

SPARC is a community-based charity that raises awareness of recycling, sustainability and green issues through creative environmental education. Using innovative ideas and exciting materials, SPARC provides experiential opportunities for both children and adults to enjoy themselves and further their development.

Aims

SPARC primary aims are:

1. To maintain a play resource centre in order to collect, store and provide scrap and other low cost art and craft materials primarily to those living in the South Hams, Torbay and Teignbridge districts of South Devon.
2. To inspire and excite people in the creative and educational uses of reusable materials.
3. To be accessible to a wide community through workshops and networking.
4. To pioneer a unique approach to multicultural education.
5. To embrace equal opportunities by being inclusive in all working practices.

Objectives

In pursuit of its aims SPARC's objectives are:

1. To provide and maintain centres for the storage and distribution of clean non-toxic waste and surplus materials to the public.
2. To ensure a constant and adequate supply of suitable scrap materials by establishing and maintaining good relationships with suppliers and other resource centres or scrapstores.
3. To promote and encourage the creative use of materials and equipment available through SPARC workshops in the community.
4. To make the range of services at SPARC available to all in South Devon and SPARC's experience available beyond this area.
5. To establish SPARC as an independent, financially viable charity responding to the ever changing needs of the community.
6. To employ workers and volunteers.
